David Tixier Trio is a fresh sound of compositions. Originality comes from the three musicians playing together since a while. Complicity, energy, surprise are the main components of the project.

​Created in February 2016, the David Tixier Trio has played among other venues, at Sunside-Sunset in Paris, Sala Clamores in Madrid, Alexander Platz Jazz Club in Rome, at B-Flat Jazz Club in Berlin, at Satchmo Jazz Club, Maribor, at Jazz En Ville Festival 2016, and Jazz En Baie Festival 2016, France.

The trio has been finalist of the Jazz Competition in Jazz En Ville Festival 2016, and the Jazz Avenir Competition 2016 in the Mont Saint Michel’s Bay, Normandie (France). During the semi-final selections of the International Matmut Jazz Orchestra Price 2016, the David Tixier Trio was chosen beside other 15 semi-finalists by the jury among 403 other international bands. In November 2016, the band was among the semi-finalists of the International online competition « 7 Virtual Jazz Clubs » and in December 2016, the trio was semi-finalist of the international competition B-Jazz held in Belgium. In May 2017, the trio was finalists of the “Tremplin Jeunes Talents” for the festival “Saint Germain Des Près” taking place at Sunset-Sunside Jazz Club, Paris.



David Tixier is a french piano player established in Switzerland. He was born in 1989.
After being in Paris to pass a Diploma of Music Studies (DEM) at the Conservatoire de Paris (CRR), with as piano professor Benjamin Moussay, he worked and played with great Jazz musicians like Bob Mintzer, Eric Watson, Giovanni Mirabassi, or Frank Amsalem. He continued studies in Lausanne, Switzerland, for a Bachelor, and a Master in Performance, with as piano professor Emil Spanyi. There, he worked and played with the New York Voices, Chico Freeman, George Robert, Julian Arguelles, François Lindemann, Sangoma Everett or Patrick Perrier.

David Tixier was the co-leader and keyboards/piano player of the trio LESS THAN FOUR since 2013 until 2016, an emergent swiss band. He leads also the “Humain Trop Humain Collective” since 2014.
In 2012, he was one of the five finalists of the Boris Vian Piano Competition, in Paris. In 2013, with the trio LESS THAN FOUR, he won the 1st prize of the jury and 1st public prize at the Jazz In Oloron Competition, in France. The same year, he was finalist with this trio at the Europafest Jazz Competition in Bucharest.
In 2015, David was a semi-finalist of the Montreux Piano Solo Competition, with Yaron Herman as head of the Jury, and a semi-finalist of the UBS Public Prize organised by Montreux Jazz Festival. The same year, he won the 2nd prize of the Monaco Jazz Soloists competition 2015.

So far, David had opportunity to perform his art in Europe (France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain, Romania), in Turkey and in Japan.


Rafael Jerjen is an internationally recognised bass player, composer and sought after sideman. Born in Basel, Switzerland in 1989 he moved to Australia with his parents in 1995. In 2010, he graduated from his Bachelor of Jazz with first class honours, majoring in performance on double bass from the Australian National University. After graduating Rafael was appointed to the pre-tertiary lecturing faculty at ANU. Since his return to Switzerland in 2013 he has recently completed his Master of Arts- Performance Double Bass at the Hochschule Luzern.

Rafael performs regularly within Switzerland at various venues and jazz clubs including Moods (ZH), Mehrspur (ZH), Bejazz (BE) Birdseye (BS), and Jazzkantine (LU). Rafael spent the summer of 2014 in Los Angeles recording his third album as a band leader supported by a grant from the Australian Council of the Arts. The album “Soul Station – Return” is an artistic tribute to the monumental “Soul Station” Blue Note record by Hank Mobley. It features some of the most renowned jazz artists of our time including Joe La Barbera (former drummer for the jazz legend Bill Evans), Grammy-Winner Bill Cunliffe, Bob Sheppard, Brian Scanlon, Kye Palmer and Bob McChesney.

Rafael tours regularly with various groups in Switzerland, Australia, mainland Europe, Denmark and the UK, and has had the honour of sharing the stage with Dave Samuels, Andy Sheppard, Sandy Evans, James Greening, Matt McMahon, Matt Baker, Roberto Bossard, Elmar Frey, Andy Herrmann, Geir Lysne, and Tobias Cole.


LADA OBRADOVIĆ is a Croatian jazz drummer, composer, arranger, band leader and sideman. Her musical education began with classical piano at age of 12, and continued by discovering drums much later, shortly before her 17th birthday. After finishing “Rock Academy” in Zagreb, Croatia, she moved to Graz, where she finished four years bachelor performance program. At the moment she is finishing master performance jazz studies at University of Bern in Switzerland. ​She is an artist of American company “TRX Cymbals“ (Turkish Hand Made Cymbals) and British Company “Bay Custom Drums” (British Hand Made Drums).

​Falling in love on a first sight with the instrument, she immediately started the preparations of entrance exam for Jazz studies, with her first drum teachers Branimir Njikoš and Robert Jambrušić, at “Rock Academy” in Zagreb, Croatia. She finished school in couple of years which proceeded passing entrance exam at Jazz University in Graz, Austria (Kunstuniversität Graz) for four years bachelor jazz drums performance program in class of Howard Curtis, in 2010. Within this four years journey, she had an opportunity to meet, work or perform with some great jazz names as Billy Hart, Jeff Ballard, Bill Stewart, Jimmy Cobb, Don Menza, Fay Claasen, Curtis Fuller, John Hollenbeck, Benny Golson, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Joe LaBarbera, etc…

She was performing with different musical formations of different styles, from trios, gospel bands, to big bands, around Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

​Year 2016 she had an opportunity to participate some masterclasses with great musicians as Allison Miller and Malcolm Braff. She was a finalist of an international female drums competition in California where she participated with her original composition performed with her project. The same year she becomes a member of David Tixier Trio with which she performes around Switzerland and France. In July 2016 they are accepted in finals of “Vannes Jazz Competition” within the “Jazz en Ville Festival” in Vannes, France and in August 2016 finals of competition “Jazz Avenir” within “Jazz En Baie” festival, in Mont St Michel, France. During the semi-final selections of the International Matmut Jazz Orchestra Price 2016, the David Tixier Trio was chosen beside other fifteen semi-finalists, by the jury among 403 other international bands. The same year trio was in finals of international online competition “7 Virtual Jazz Clubs” and semi finals of well known Belgian “Be-Jazz Competition”. In May 2017 they perform in finals of “Tremplin Jeunes Talents” in famous jazz club of Paris “Sunset-Sunside Jazz Club”.

The same year she signes the endorsement contract with the great British hand made drums company “Bay Custom Drums” and another endorsement with American company “TRX Cymbals” (hand made turkish cymbals made on her personal request that serve as a prototype of first jazz series of TRX Cymbals company in general).

Year 2017 her project “Lada Obradovic Project” was chosen in top 5 finalists of great “Made In New York” Jazz Competition and top 6 competitors of Swiss Jazz Competition, “ZKB Jazzpreis”.
